Push-to-talk over cellular (PTToC) is a set of devices and communication services. It is also a set of processes which comprise two-way communication technology with support of wireless devices. It primarily comprises push-to-talk voice service for smart phone communications and transfers one-to-one and one-to-many voice communication services through a cellular network. Some of the key advantages of PTToC over the traditional technologies are the quick call setup and a wide network range.
PTT communications is mainly supported over LMR (land mobile radio) networks. Today, PTToC offerings are replacing LMR systems in many commercial environments, as non-mission-critical customer progressively are opting for the lower cost & application flexibility inherent associated with PoC infrastructure rather than possessing private LMR networks.
